Introduced by Messrs. Veitch around the beginning of the 20th century, the deep green, pointed leaves show off the flattish, snowy white lacecap flowers to perfection. A completely hardy hydrangea which needs partial shade and rich loamy soil to thrive. It is a favorite shrub for massing in a woodland setting or semi-natural garden. Found in Japan and brought to UK by Charles Maries in 1881.
